Colusa Medical Center would like to welcome Dr. Akbar Khan, DO to Colusa and Williams Health Clinics starting January 17, 2022. Dr. Khan specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as Pain Medicine, and treats patients who suffer from chronic pain. He works with each patient to create a treatment plan to help them manage their pain and return to everyday activities, including conditions such as spine disorders, fibromyalgia, sports-related injuries and chronic headache.

Dr. Khan attended medical school at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. His internship was at Nassau University Medical Center in New York, which he completed in 2010. He completed his residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA in 2013 and a Fellowship in Interventional Spine Medicine and Pain Management at The Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland Ohio, in 2014. Dr. Khan is the Medical Director of Revive Pain & Spine Center in Woodland, CA.

Monoclonal Antibody Therapy (mAb) utilizing Regeneron is now available at Colusa Medical Center.

“I am pleased to announce that Regeneron is available for those who need it,” said Colusa County Public Health Officer and CMC Staff Physician, Dr. Julian Delgado. “COVID-19 patients or those exposed to the virus may be candidates to receive mAb treatment and are encouraged to contact Colusa Medical Center to determine whether this course of treatment is appropriate. Having a lower viral load likely means you may have milder symptoms, thereby decreasing the likelihood of severe illness, hospitalization and death. This treatment may help people who are currently testing positive for COVID-19 and have had symptoms for ten days or less.” 

Monoclonal antibodies are man-made proteins that can help your body fight off COVID-19  by blocking the SARS-CoV-2 virus (the virus that causes COVID-19) from entering cells in your body and limit the amount of the virus within your body. This means you may have milder symptoms and may decrease the likelihood of severe illness, hospitalization, and death.

The mAb treatment may help people who:

·         Are at high risk of getting more serious symptoms and

·         Have a positive COVID-19 test with symptoms for 10 days or less or

·         Have been in close contact with someone who has recently tested positive
