Colusa Medical Center

History

Colusa Medical Center has along and honored history of serving the health care needs of the people of Colusa County, California, and surrounding areas. From its humble beginnings in January of 1877 as a small, rural medical facility, CMC has grown to become a vital regional medical center, providing a level of service found only in the best rural community hospitals in the country.

Colusa Medical Center operates a county-wide health system consisting of a 48-bed acute care hospital and skilled nursing facility, a Home Health Agency, and rural health clinics located in the communities of Arbuckle, Colusa, and Williams.

CMC is licensed by the State of California and has earned full accreditation from Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ), member-based organization approved by CMS to deem acute care hospitals as meeting Medicare Conditions of Participation.

Colusa Medical Center’s success is derived from the continued support of the people in the communities we serve; a consistent and continued belief in our mission; and a never-ending focus on each patient’s needs. Colusa Medical Center’s strength is that our employees and staff are members of this community-serving our friends, neighbors, and families.

CMC offers a wide range of services including adult medical and surgical care, emergency medicine, long-term skilled nursing care, laboratory services, imaging and radiographic services, physical rehabilitation, home health and palliative care, outpatient clinic services, and other specialized programs. The CMC medical staff have wide ranging expertise including family practice with internal medicine, general and vascular surgery, endoscopy, pulmonary medicine, radiology, cardiology, emergency medicine, and pathology.

While a community owned and governed hospital over the last 20 years, several million dollars were invested in improvements in our physical plant, program expansion, and acquisition of diagnostic and the rapeutic equipment and technology. Over 14,000 square feet of medical office space were constructed and brought on-line in 2006, providing the most modern of clinic suites for our campus physicians. A rural health clinic opened in 2006 in the city of Williams and an additional rural health clinic was opened in 2007 to serve the growing needs of the community of Arbuckle. In 2008, the CMC Rehabilitation Center was opened on our hospital campus offering the latest in Physical, Occupational and Speech therapies.

CMC’s Board of Directors and senior management team brought together stake holders from throughout Colusa County to complete a comprehensive strategic planning process. The result was an adoption of CMC’s Strategic Plan, a “roadmap” if you will, by which CMC’s growth and development will be guided form any years to come. The plan focuses on the following critical are as of: patient safety and quality of care; clinical technology; information technology; employee recruitment and retention; physician recruitment and retention(particularly specialists); physical plant/building; and, overall, matching our services to the health care needs of our growing and aging population.
