Colusa Medical Center’s Cardiopulmonary Department provides basic respiratory care such as oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, ventilator support and pulmonary physiology, which includes pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas analysis, and pulse oximetry. The department also offers cardiology care and non-invasive diagnostics such as EKGs, and cardiac event monitoring. Echocardiography, an advanced technology which uses ultrasound (sound waves) to test heart function and blood flow health, is also offered.
Colusa Medical Center’s Diagnostic Imaging and Radiology Department offers standard radiology services such as x-ray and fluoroscopy, along with advanced diagnostic imaging services including ultrasound, and computerized tomography (CT) scanning.
Colusa Medical Center’s Emergency Department provides round clock emergency services utilizing a highly trained and qualified team of physicians and nursing staff. The Emergency Department is staffed with a physician 24 hours day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
Medical and surgical intensive care is provided to critically ill patients at Colusa Medical Center’s by highly trained nurses using advanced cardiac and vital signs monitoring technology.
Colusa Medical Center’s Clinical Laboratory is a full-service, highly automated lab staffed with licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientists and assistants. A broad range of comprehensive testing is performed in all aspects of laboratory science though our new chemical analyzer. Services are provided for both inpatients and outpatients as requested by the ordering physician or practitioner. A board certified Pathologist serves as Colusa Medical Center’s Medical Director.
Colusa Medical Center’s Medical/Surgical Unit provides a wide scope of services delivered to adult and geriatric patients requiring medical and/or surgical inpatient care. Surgical care encompasses most general surgery cases. Cardiac patients with telemetry (heart) monitoring needs are also cared for with constant observance from the ICU via our state-of-the-art monitoring equipment. The nursing staff take pride in delivering a high standard of care coupled with that “modern care quality healthcare in a traditional family setting” for which Colusa Medical Center is known.
Dietary staff of Colusa Medical Center’s Nutrition Services Department provide quality, nutritious meals for our patients as prescribed by the attending physician. A licensed Registered Dietitian provides counseling to inpatients and outpatients as ordered by the physician. Our café serves hot breakfast and lunch in addition to a wide variety of grill options and snacks for visitors and family to enjoy.
As integral members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, Colusa Medical Center’s Pharmacy staff are actively involved in the decision process for medication use and safety. The staff ensure accurate and appropriate dispensing of medication and monitor the effects of drug therapy to best suit the needs of each patient. The Pharmacy also serves as an education resource for the healthcare team as well as the patient.
Colusa Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Services Department provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy. These services are provided for the acute hospital, skilled nursing facility, home health and outpatient departments. The department’s goal is to return the patient to their optimum level of function. The department is open daily except weekends and holidays.
Colusa Medical Center’s dedicated Skilled Nursing Unit is designed to facilitate restorative and rehabilitative progress for our patients preparing for discharge. Our goal is to assist patients in achieving a quality of life equal to his/her potential.
A “Swing Bed Unit” — a Medicare skilled nursing facility — provides a stable, therapeutic environment in which patients can recover over a short-term period and post hospitalization short-term rehabilitation. Admissions to the unit include patients, who demonstrate a high rehabilitation potential and can usually be discharged within 21 days or less.
Colusa Medical Center’s staff provides treatment services in a structured, therapeutic environment. These services — which include daily nursing care by registered nurses and rehabilitative therapy — facilitate the recovery and return of each patient back to their home environment. The units provide Medicare-certified services and will work with patients who have private insurance to ensure third-party payment for services provided.
Patients may be able to participate in the program if their medical needs cannot be met at home or in a long-term care facility, but their condition no longer requires a stay in an acute care setting.
Colusa Medical Center’s Surgery and Anesthesia staff provide services for many diagnostic procedures, as well as inpatient and outpatient surgeries. State-of-the-art equipment enables us to provide quality services for inpatients and outpatients. Working together as a team, we are committed to making the surgery experience a pleasant one.
Colusa Medical Center’s Home Health provides its patients with a comprehensive assessment of health and social needs and, with the physician’s order, establishes a plan of care to meet those needs. We promote and restore health and independence through the provision of direct skilled nursing care and individualized health education for disease management and self-care. We provide and teach high-tech infusion therapy, wound care and specialized medical treatments and procedures as ordered by the physician.
Colusa Medical Center’s Physical Therapy staff evaluate safety of the home environment, the patient’s physical strength and mobility, and develops a rehabilitation plan to restore function and teach patients and caregivers physical exercises and activities to achieve maximum independence at home. We recommend medical equipment and home modifications to promote safety and independence at home.
Colusa Medical Center’s Occupational Therapy staff evaluate the patient’s ability to perform activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, home maintenance, and meal preparation. We Initiate a rehabilitation plan to restore activities of daily living, and train patients and caregivers in the use of assistive devices to promote independence.
Colusa Medical Center’s Speech Therapy staff evaluate the patient’s speech and swallowing abilities and establishes a therapy regime for restoration of cognitive functioning, swallowing deficits and communication skills.
When other skilled services are required and, when necessary, provides short-term personal care for bathing, dressing, skin care, toileting, mobility and other activities of daily living under the guidance of Colusa Medical Center’s registered nurse or therapist.

Colusa Medical Center’s hospice is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary palliative care program allows supportive medical, social, emotional and spiritual services to those approaching end of life or a chronic life threatening illness.
